The 2022 Cadillac CT5 is a midsize luxury sedan for those who see driving as more than just a means of getting from one place to another. The CT5 is still a spacious and practical five-seat car that’s perfect for daily commutes, but it’s also so much more than that too. The first model in the range is the CT5 Luxury, and from there the lineup goes to the Premium Luxury, Sport, and finally to the V-Series. And new for the 2022 model year is the CT5-V Blackwing, which is effectively a standalone performance model that’s separate from the regular CT5 lineup.
There are two engines available for the CT5, or three if you want to also include the new CT5-V Blackwing. The first engine that’s standard in Luxury, Premium Luxury, and Sport versions of the 2022 CT5 is a 2.0-litre turbo-four that develops a very healthy 237 horsepower and 258 lb.-ft. of torque. This is sent to the rear or all four wheels through a 10-speed automatic transmission that all CT5s come with, apart from the Blackwing. The second engine in the regular lineup is a 3.0-litre twin-turbo V-6 which then provides the CT5 with 335 horsepower and 400 lb.-ft. of torque, and this unit is available with the Premium Luxury and comes standard with the V-Series.
Of course, the 2022 CT5-V Blackwing is on another level entirely with a hand-built, 6.2-litre supercharged V-8 under its hood producing an incredible 668 horsepower and 659 lb.-ft. of torque. This goes exclusively to the rear wheels through a standard six-speed manual or available 10-speed automatic transmission, so this is definitely a true driver’s car in every sense of the term.
Comfort, luxury, and opulence can be taken for granted with the interior of the CT5 because this is, after all, a Cadillac. That’s not enough to keep discerning buyers happy these days though, as technology also plays a huge part in what it takes to make a luxury car successful, but this is another strong area for the CT5. The CT5 boasts as many as 20 standard and available safety and driver assistance features, but that’s just the start of the tech you’ll find inside this impressive luxury sedan.
State-of-the-art infotainment also features in every model that includes wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility. Alexa functionality is also part of the system and is now fully integrated with the Cadillac user experience, and you can now even have Super Cruise that allows genuine hands-free driving on more than 320,000 km of divided and compatible highways across North America.
